4,675 3-cm squares
Descriptif: From the trickle of a liquid cooling, as if halted by the temperature or the wind, the composition of Winter 2 was drawn as a mirror image of Winter 1, on a smaller scale. The colour range has taken on a greener hue. The dotted lines of quilting accentuate the scale effect.
In the bottom-left corner, the contrasting texture of the two blocks assembled in classic fashion, contrive to produce a watermark effect, like a throwback to another, smoother cap of ice.

4675 -4 cm squares
Description: In a chromatic range first used in Interferences in 2018, the lines of force resemble those of the Magma series: they evoke the trickle of a liquid cooling, as if halted by the temperature or the wind.
In the top-left corner, the contrasting texture of the two 17 x 27 square blocks assembled in classic fashion, contrive to produce a watermark effect, like a throwback to another, smoother cap of ice.
The broken lines of the quilting follow the diagonals through individual square or pairs of juxtaposed squares.

Thaw series
Format: Two panels each 104 x 49 cm – 3ft 5in x 1ft 7in
Weight: Two panels each 0.280 and 0.300 g – 10 and 11 oz
Date: 2022
Nos. 225.2022.9 and 226.2022.7
Technique: Assembled using hand-stitching. Three layers quilted together, one of which is reversed, through a polyester core fabric chosen for its extreme whiteness.
924 3-cm pieces
Description: Based on a fragment of a photographic montage by Karl Hermann Haupt which the artist explored in her Semagrams and Moments series, Avalanches 1 and 2 show the memory of a sliding movement and the texture of heaped up layers of snow, interspersed with stones and sand deposited by the wind.
The broken quilting lines accentuate the slanting momentum as well as holding the three layers together.
Title: Neige
Snow variations
Thaw series
Format: 15 x 15 cm framed 23 x 23 x 4 cm – 6in x 6in and 9in x 9in x 2in
Weight: 0.008 to 0.021 g – 1/3 to 1 oz
Date: 2020 – 2023
Nos. 243.2022.27, 257.2023.5, 258.2023.6, 261.2023.9
Technique: Folded textile squares, cardboard; visible or hidden folding.
121 3-cm pieces
Description: The Snow variations series ushers in a change in technique. It is no longer a matter of assembling three layers of textiles according to quilting tradition: all but the topmost layer has been discarded, leaving a fragile skin.
In these 15 x 15 cm formats, relief and matter orchestrate all states of snow, from flakes, snowballs and overhangs to immense slopes. Given their potential for evocation on such a small scale, these fascinating objects have thus assumed their rightful place, overriding the initial design. In display cases for easy installation, each Snow variation condenses 20 years of percepts.
